Dan Lewis, co-founder of My Claim Appraisal, brings over 34 years of experience in the insurance and restoration industries. After earning his degree from the University of Iowa, Dan began his career in 1990 with American Family Insurance as a Multi-Line Claim Adjuster. In 2003, he joined Alternative Service Concepts, a third-party administrator that managed claims for self-insured corporations and government entities. His expertise in property, liability, and workers' compensation caught the attention of Nationwide Insurance, leading to his recruitment in 2004. At Nationwide, Dan held various leadership roles, including Multi-state Field Claim Manager, Regional Catastrophe Claim Manager, and Regional Preferred Contractor Manager.

In 2018, Dan transitioned from the insurance carrier side to explore other industries related to property insurance claims. He became National Director of Restoration Services for Prism Specialties and later served as National Director of Care and Development at GC3 Construction, a GuideOne Insurance company.

Along with co-founding My Claim Appraisal, Dan also founded Hawkeye Consulting and Claim Services, a provider of services to the insurance and restoration industries. Additionally, he co-founded Insurance Contractors Educational Systems.

Currently, Dan focuses on litigation and alternative dispute resolution for property and commercial claims. To maintain impartiality, he collaborates with both insurance carriers and consumers. As a highly respected expert witness, Dan has been deposed over 500 times and is qualified to testify on damage assessments for residential and commercial properties. He also serves as an appraiser and umpire in claim disputes.

Dan holds a Level 2 certification in the Xactimate estimating program, is licensed as an All-Lines Independent Adjuster in Florida, and is a HAAG Certified Inspector. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Windstorm Insurance Network (WIND), the Insurance Appraisal and Umpire Association, and the Property Loss Appraisal Network (P.L.A.N.).
